Where I got with this today. 5s (2,3) in feet as paradiddles and LH dotted eighths as paradiddles between snare and tom. @zmillermusic thank you for sharing your vid with me. Cross-stick helped me start to smooth out some motions. #drums
For @stevelymanmusic working on it. Feet 5s as 2,3 double stops. Dotted quarter LH played as paradiddle between snare and tom.

So I haven’t posted drum stuff in like 42 years. Oh well. Here’s this thing I’m working on. 5s grouped as 2,3 (16th notes) in feet played as paradiddles, snare dotted quarter notes, with duple ride pattern.

Excited to announce a new chapter! This year, I’m thrilled to be the Percussion Tech for both Taravella High and Ramblewood Middle School bands. Can’t wait to grow as an educator alongside these amazing programs!
Huge thanks and a shout out to my colleague Robert Flory @mowhawkie for all your support!
I’m also accepting new students for my home studio. Interested in lessons? Drop a comment below.
Lots of love,
Chris
On the way back home tomorrow. Feeling grateful for this time with family, friends and nature. Vacation mode: complete.
Part of my practice today is working on counting my downbeats against this 3:5 polymeter. Two rhythms based around the same type notes (sixteenths). Started with keeping consistent quarter notes on the snare and I’m working on keeping that pulse with my voice. Bass drum and snare drum alternate with the 5/16. Still feels heavy and tense but I feel my grid system getting stronger. Hope everyone’s doing good! ✌🏻
